While working on an update on my Tinnitus book today, I got an email that alerted me to a product that I hadnt heard of. If it had been from someone other than Hammacher Schlmemmer, I would have probably written it off as a pitch from a snake oil salesman. The bonus was that it mentioned the American Tinnitus Association which infers that they have look at the Tinnitus Relief Wand and appear to have endorsed it to a degree.
Here is an excerpt from Hammacher Schlemmer page for this product –
This is the vibrating wand that quiets the ringing, rushing, or buzzing sounds of tinnitus for up to 18 hours. Applied to four points on the outer ear and surrounding bones, the wand’s gentle vibration stimulates the auditory nerve while producing a low hum similar to white noise. The American Tinnitus Association recommends this sound therapy for muffling the clatter of tinnitus and training the brain to ignore it. The wand tip tucks comfortably into the opening of the ear canal, and the slim device is portable for relief whenever symptoms occur. Its cordless rechargeable battery provides up to three hours of relief from a full charge from its included adapter. Includes six interchangeable tips. 9″ L x 1″ Diam. (7 oz.)
I have reached out to the PR folks at HS and hope to arrange an eval of the product. More information will be posted once I have more information. For more information, please click on this link.
